Question: Should I use a social media scheduling system if it shows the company name each time I post? Sandra This is a really interesting question for me because I have been seeing this question pop up a lot in my Corporate Rescue Plan community. So many people are worried because they feel like it is impersonal to use an outside service to schedule their social media posts. Its an interesting mindset because I dont think there is anything wrong with using a scheduling system. When I see someone using one, I applaud them because they are becoming more productive and more efficient with their time. I am proud that I schedule my posts. I batch them and do all my posts for the week in one day. Its the most efficient way to do it. You can waste a lot of time if you are constantly trying to post on social media and I have a business to run!! Heres the big thing that you need to focus on. You need to change your mindset. The more content you produce on social media, the more value that you provide. The more times I can post on Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram  sharing meaningful content, the more value I am providing to you and the more I am helping people. If I have to use a scheduling system to help more people and to give me a little more work-life balance, I am very happy about that. I would so much rather spend time with my daughter, husband, and parents and have posts go out automatically then care if I used a scheduling system. I wouldnt worry about it all. I dont think its a big deal. Side note: I had social media posts going out automatically when I was in labor. My friends and family thought I was crazy and working while I was in labor.  I had to tell them afterwards that it was all scheduled. My baby was born a little late so I had a lot of time on my hands to schedule maternity leave posts. ?? The one we use is right now is ViralTag, but there are plenty of others out there. I like to use scheduling systems that I can use across all of my social media accounts.  Its tough  to find one that includes Pinterest and Instagram so that is why I currently love ViralTag. 152 The Importance of Self Care - Jane Jackson Career The Importance of Self Care The Laryngitis EpisodeThis is the first time since Your Career Podcast started back in 2015 that there has been more than 2 weeks break between episodes.   My last episode was released on 14th May and between then and now, I had 3 weeks holiday in the UK and, upon my return to Sydney, 6 weeks of laryngitis I wasnt able to utter a squeak. Total silence!Now my voice is slowly returning, I have recorded an episode (forgive my throaty voice) on the importance of self care, what time off from work means for the self-employed and the importance of alternative income streams.   I talk about SuperWoman syndrome and the setbacks when you go back to work before you are ready.This is an important episode for all business owners who are working IN their business rather than ON their business.What happens when, as a business owner, you take time off?   What happens when you are ill and not able to deliver your services? Evaluate job offers how to decide if you should take that job - Theres nothing worse than finally landing that coveted interview and getting good vibes about your chances to finally land a job, only to have a sneaking suspicion that the company that may extend that long hoped for offer may be in financial trouble. How can you evaluate job offers before you decide to say yes or no? How can you tell if you should take a chance on a company? Google is your friend. Sometimes, finding the down-low about an organization is as easy as a simple Google search. Maybe you did some  research  early in the interview process, but theyve been taking their time, so its been a while since youve looked anything up. Consider setting an alert for companies that interest you to receive news as Google indexes it. Try using  Talkwalker.com  to set up your search. Read everything published and evaluate the organizations chances. Dont forget to take a broad view and look up the industry and even the location before you take an offer. If the company is owned by a parent organization, dont forget to include the parent in your research. Also, keep an eye out for general branding concerns. Financial trouble can result if a CEO is implicated in a scandal, and that can affect an organizations outlook. If its a publicly traded company, keep an eye on the stocks performance and read up on expectations going forward. Read between the lines at  LinkedIn. If you arent already following the company in question at LinkedIn, now is the time to get on board. (Find Companies under the Interests tool bar.) When you do, you can get a glimpse of who in your network works at the organization, and you may be able to tell if a lot of people seem to be leaving. Use LinkedIns Advanced search and find people whose past company is the one in question. You may need to be very patient to dig up any good information this way, but if you are really concerned, it is worth noting if leaders in the organization recently departed. Get my free white paper: 5 Mistakes Preventing You From Landing a Job This Week   Regardless of who is leaving or not, you can access anyone in your network who can introduce you to someone who is working in the organization, and sometimes, an inside introduction is helpful when youre in the evaluation stage. Network: Interview current employees. Ask them if theyve noticed perks are being cut back. Was the holiday party a bring your own this year? Has the free coffee in the break room come to a rapid halt, or how about other benefits they always took for granted? Have employees been asked to take on a lot of extra work? Or, is there a lot of increased scrutiny of each employees output, when no one ever cared before? Is there talk of a merger? These could be bad signs. Read reviews. Depending on the type of organization where you may want to work, it could be helpful to read online reviews and customer reviews. If its a retail or other customer focused establishment that relies on new clients, and the Yelp! reviews are poor â€" especially if they are trending downward â€" that could be a bad sign for the company. Dont forget to look up the organization on  Glassdoor.com  and see if there are reviews from current employees. Sometimes, they will comment if the company seems to be going through a rough time. A little bad news probably doesnt spell the end of the world for the organization, but if you see too many red flags, at the very least consider yourself warned if you do decide to take an opportunity.
